WHAT TO EXPECT
You’ve Got Questions - I’ve Got Answers
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST AND SUBSEQUENT APPOINTMENTS?
The Initial Assessment is the first step for all new patients. Dr. Campbell will provide a thorough examination, which will allow her to diagnose your condition and formulate a treatment plan. In this appointment she will ask you for a detailed history, perform many orthopedic tests and ranges of motion, as well as perform a Myovision scan which assesses muscle activity and inflammation levels throughout the spine. She will follow these tests with palpating your spine.
Dr. Campbell approaches her treatment plans with an individual and patient-centered approach. Each patient has specific needs.
For the majority of patients who are new to chiropractic or have had a recent injury, the first goal will be to re-gain full ranges of motion, eliminate pain, and restore healthy joints and muscles.
The second goal of any treatment plan is to prevent this problem from recurring. Dr. Campbell is a proponent of figuring out the source(s) of the problem. She provides each patient with specific exercises, stretches, and lifestyle change advice that you can do from the comfort of your home.
Once the joints are healthy and the person’s lifestyle changes and strengthening have taken effect, Dr. Campbell will determine when will be an appropriate length of time for you as an individual to wait until your next adjustment. This depends on several lifestyle factors as well as how your body responds to the treatments and to life stressors. The main goal in this third phase is to balance the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments and having a healthy spine, with the wear and tear your body experiences in between adjustments.
