What Is Chiropractic Care?
Updated: Mar 5, 2020
Chiropractic is a form of health care that focuses on your joints, muscles, ligaments, posture, nerves, diet and exercise habits, as well as your whole body functioning. Chiropractors asses the mobility and health of the joints in your spine as well as the other joints in your body! This style of treatment is what makes Chiropractic care unique in the field of health care! Dr. Campbell incorporates muscle and myofascial treatments into her appointments in order to get you better as fast as possible.
There are different types of Chiropractic care. These styles include Diversified, Gonstead, Activator, Thompson Drop, Cox Flexion-Distraction, and more! But, all Chiropractors have the same goal in mind: to restore mobility into your joints and to allow you to maintain a maximized level of health and wellness.
Chiropractors use an “adjustment” to restore motion into your joints. An adjustment is a quick yet small motion focused on a joint that isn't moving properly. The joints in your neck are supposed to move differently than the upper back and lower back. Dr. Campbell will assess each of these areas in your body for joint restrictions as well as muscular problems. The Chiropractic adjustment releases Nitrogen gases that are built up in that joint. This gas release causes the popping sound. Over time, these gases build up in the joint again. By moving the joint through an adjustment, it is possible to break any adhesions of scar tissue that are preventing normal motion. If you have ever “cracked” your knuckle, you will understand the sensation of having the pressure in that joint released and motion restored.
Chiropractors are also educated in nutrition and exercise. Dr. Campbell might send you home with individualized instructions to perform certain stretches and exercises. These are aimed at preventing your problem from recurring in the future. Dr. Campbell sells nutritional supplements that are aimed at meeting your body’s needs when diet has not been sufficient. Each patient’s care plan is unique in home care, workplace ergonomics, and nutritional supplement recommendations.
There is much more to Chiropractic care than I have discussed above. The topics are endless! I hope you found this explanation of Chiropractic care useful and find the other articles in this blog helpful in your journey to health and wellness.
